Responsible for major technical aspects of radiation protection at the University or at any locations in which radiation sources are used under University auspices, as directed by the University Radiation Safety Officer. In the absence of the Director/RSO, may be designated to act as Director and/or the University's RSO.

Review and evaluate measurements of external and internal radiation exposures, determine necessary monitoring for internal/external exposures. Recommend control measures to minimize dose where possible. Perform supervisory duties such as assigning work, instructing and training personnel, and evaluating performance. Participate in various radiation safety committees. Provide technical assistance and advice in the field of radiation protection to state agencies.

Major Areas of Concentration: Lab audit program, Instrumentation, procedure review and documentation, cosmic accelerator, environmental radiation.
